Meet the Pastor
Reverend G. M. Jones, Pastor
"And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them . . ." (Ezekiel 34:23)
Reverend G. M. Jones, pastor of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Molena, GA, hails from Chattanooga, TN where he developed a love and sense of compassion for others. Even as a little boy, he exemplified a spirit of devotion and cared for the needs of others. Reared by his grandparents, the late and Lizzie Mae Jones, it was with his grandparents that the foundation for the life and the ministry of humble servant of God began.
Although best known for his gift of preaching, his ministry began in music, singing in the choir, and as a member of the New Birth Singers of Athens, GA.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 11, and during his teen years served on the music ministry at Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church.
Reverend GM Jones has continued in ministry, preaching, and teaching the gospel all over Georgia and neighboring states.
In addition to a life in ministry, Reverend GM Jones is a family man. Pastor Jones was married to the late Athena Jones for 8 years until her heavenly transition in 2014 after a well-fought battle with Lupus. Their union was blessed with six children, Christopher, Eva Marie, Giovanno Jr., Quisha, Trakia, and Jordan. With much integrity Pastor Jones continued to lead his family as well as his church family gaining strength from the words of the hymn "Be Not Dismayed Whatever Betide God will Take Care of You.
Pastor Jones ministry is best accurately described in Isaiah 61:1-2, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek, he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
